LITERARY EVENTS
InQuizitive 3.0(General Quiz)
ELIGIBILITY
- Each institution can send a maximum of 4 teams of two participants each.
- Registration is open for first 50 teams only on first come first serve basis.
FORMAT
- After the written preliminary round, top 10 teams will be selected for semi-finals.
- Highest scoring 5 teams will be allowed to compete in the final round of the quiz competition.
AREAS TO BE COVERED
Questions will broadly cover following fields:
(a) General Awareness: Relating to science, history, political science, knowledge of world bodies, geography and economy.
(b) India: Knowledge of India particularly history, polity, geography, economy etc.
(c) Sports: State, National and International.
(d) Current Events: National as well as international.
(e) Art & Culture: Relating to theatre, music, cinema, literature, dance etc.
RULES FOR WRITTEN PRELIMINARY TEST
- Written test will have 30 questions to be answered in a total time of 30 minutes.
- The questions will be in the form of one word answer
- Each team will answer questions collectively.
- Only one correct answer by the teams will be accepted.
- There will be NO negative marking.
- Performance of a team in written test will not be given any weight-age in the subsequent rounds.
RULES FOR THE FINAL ROUND
Final round will be through oral test for which following rules are prescribed:
- Teams will occupy their seats by draw of lots.
- Fields specified for written test will be followed in oral test as well. Some audio-visual questions may also be included.
- Each team will be asked four questions in each round.
- Teams will be asked questions in the order they are seated.
- Each team will be given fifteen seconds to answer a question.
- Time to answer the question will start the moment Quiz Master completes a question.
- Quiz master will prescribe marks for a correct answer.
- The first reply of a team will be considered final.
- Unanswered questions will be passed. Quiz Master will determine procedure and credit for a passed question.
- In case of tie, teams will be given a set of five questions each covering the already specified fields. All above rules are subject to change in case required.
Decision of Quiz Master will be final.

PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE
GOVERNMENT:-
Prime Minister (PM)
- Establish a definition of the motion and define context and parameters of debate
- Provide concise background or history leading to the issue
- Give framework of government bench’s case. I.e. mechanisms (if any), argumentation flow (what the government’s first argument is and what the Deputy Prime Minister will talk about)
Deputy Prime Minister (DPM)
- Defend PM’s stance and rebut the arguments from Leader of Opposition
- Introduce more constructs to build on the PM’s speech
- Reassert Government stand and case
Government Whip
- Rebut Deputy Leader of Opposition, and Leader of Opposition
- Defend DPM and PM arguments
- Provide a deeper level of analysis for previous arguments and rebuttals
- No new arguments should be introduced ▪ Summary of entire case of Government
OPPOSITION:-
Leader of Opposition
- Agree or disagree with context/ parameters of debate (any definitional challenges, accusations of squirreling, or unfair set up should be made from the LO speech and no later)
- Rebut Prime Minister’s argument ▪ Give framework for Opposition case (if Opp agrees to problem, then their case should provide solution, or at least effectively highlight how Government proposal will worsen the situation)
Deputy Leader of Opposition
- Rebut DPM and PM arguments
- Defend LO arguments
- Introduce more constructs and build on the LO’s case
- Reassert Opposition stand and case
Opposition Whip
- Rebut DPM and PM arguments
- Defend LO & DLO arguments
- Provide a deeper level of analysis for previous arguments and rebuttals
- No new arguments should be introduced
REPLY SPEECH:
Can only be delivered by either 1st or 2nd speaker from each bench
- Provide a biased ‘Oral adjudication’ of why the debate should go to own bench
- Highlight clashes you believe your side won and carefully address clashes you think your side may have lost.
- Reassert your side’s stand
DRESS CODE
Ethnic/Formals (However it will be appreciated for wearing attire similar to the politician of allotted constituency.)
LANGUAGE
There will be no language bar. The participants may use English, Hindi or Punjabi as per their choice and convenience.
